Wattolümpiade

"schmutzigen Sport für eine saubere Sache"

The “Wattolümpiade” takes place every year since 2004 at the Elbdeich in Brunsbüttel.

This crazy event is made up of several disciplines, for example “Watt-Fußball”, “Watt-Handball”, “Watt-Wolliball” or “Schlickschlittenrennen”. Each year a total of 45 teams are able to sign up for their discipline of choice. Reason for the limit on the amount of teams is because all of these games need to take place within a four-hour time period where the tide is out. 

As fun and wild as the “Wattolümpiade” seems…and is…it has a serious background. The "Wattolümpiade" association finances among other things two counseling centers for cancer patients and their relatives in Brunsbüttel and Heide. To date the club has collected more than €250,000 with the "schmutzigen Sport für eine saubere Sache".
